Tall rosin is a glassy substance ranging from pale yellow to dark brown, composed primarily of resin acids with minor impurities of fatty acids and neutral substances. It is produced from crude tall oil, a by-product of kraft pulp cooking.
Modified tall rosin is obtained by chemical reaction of tall rosin with fumaric acid, resulting in improved thermal stability, solubility, and adhesion properties.
