Distilled Tall Oil (DTO), CAS 8002-26-4

Distilled Tall Oil (DTO) is produced by vacuum rectification of crude tall oil. The primary market for DTO is the coatings and paint industry. It is also widely used in petroleum chemical production, emulsifier manufacturing, rubber regeneration, substance separation during flotation, construction, and other sectors.
DTO serves as a full replacement for vegetable oils in soapmaking, varnish and alkyd resin production, drying oils (olif), and siccatives.

Distilled Tall Oil is used in various industries, for example:

  • Chemical Industry. The product serves as a raw material for the production of chemical compounds, including synthetic fatty acids, surfactants (surfactants), and plasticizers.
  • Paints & Coatings Industry. The oil is added to paints, varnishes, and enamels to improve viscosity, mechanical durability, and resistance to atmospheric exposure. It is also used in the production of primers and protective coatings.
  • Metallurgical Industry. The oil is employed as a flux to protect metals from corrosion and scale formation. It is also used in hot stamping and heat treatment processes to reduce friction and prevent surface damage to metals.
  • Lubricant Manufacturing. The oil is incorporated into lubricants and technical fluids used in machinery, construction, and other sectors. It enhances the lubricating properties of formulations and improves their resistance to high temperatures and mechanical stress.
  • Biofuels. Distilled Tall Oil is utilized in the production of environmentally friendly biofuels that reduce the carbon footprint and serve as an alternative to conventional hydrocarbon fuels.
