HEDP is an organic compound belonging to the class of diphosphonic acids. It is a pentabasic organic acid. It appears as a white, crystalline powder with a slight gray or beige tint. HEDP is highly soluble in water, acids, alkalis, ethanol, methanol, acetic acid, dimethylformamide (DMF), and dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO). It is non-flammable and non-explosive.
